Smiling because we had a million dollar view of Miami from our mooring ball and life was good :)
Who the eff are we?
Our names are Bob and Jamie and we are Peace Out Sailing. About to be middle-aged empty nesters, we are a weird amalgamation of homebodies and “always ready to try someplace new” - so what better fit than to be liveaboard sailors where we can adventure with our floating home?
We want to explore as many parts of the world by sea as possible. We will start close to home and as we become more attuned to our boat, better sailors and, as life allows, begin to point our bow in new directions.
A large part of the appeal of sailing is the ability to be more sustainable using wind to power our sails and solar to power everything else. But the main reason for this life choice, besides a love of the ocean, is the possibility of traveling to many different countries and getting to experience their cultures, foods, and peoples.
Whether you yearn for a sailing adventure of your own or you have dreams that look a bit different, we hope to inspire you as you follow our story.
1985 Pearson 385 (Prepping a new Name)
Our Pearson is a solid boat that thrives in the ocean under capable hands. She needs some TLC after being on the hard for a little too long and we can’t wait to treat her to some fresh paint, electrical clean up, and a new alternator among other things.
Bob
Bob is a classic 1970s New Englander - an amazing husband and father (and grandfather!) who loves adventure and learning and doing as many hands on things as possible in life. He may have several degrees, but I’m pretty sure his favorite is from the University of YouTube.
Jamie
Jamie is a 1970s Wanderer - never staying in one place for too long (kind of like a location Goldilocks), knowing that she has the best family who will always be her home no matter where she is. She loves her family and friends, music, reading, and being in the (warm) water.
